Dandelions are a bit unsightly.  They go from this stage to a “Puffball” of parashute like structures that carry the seed for long distances.  The leaves also lay across the grass.  When the lawn is mowed short the dandelion sends up short stems that may be well below the height of the lawn mower.

Broadleaved Weed Control

Dandelions in a lawn are a good example of broad leaved weed control.  This is usually best done in May, June, July, August or September.  Dandelions are usually seen in late March, April or the first part of May.  It can also be done if the main grass has gone dormant.  When the grass comes back in the fall you will be free of dandelions.   If you want a treatment to kill dandelions, please call us at 1-360-457-4341 or 1-800-828-5508.

Dandelions are Broadleaved Lawn Weeds

Probably one of the most common broad leafed weeds we are asked to control is dandelion in lawns. They bloom in late March through April.  That is when we get the most calls.  It is probably better to do the control after the weather has warmed up a bit.   Then much less chemical is necessary to do the control.  Sometimes the herbicide can be included with fertilizers.
