Poa anua

This is annual blue grass.  It only lasts one year.  It is so prolific that it is often the only grass in some lawns.  When it gets hot it dies but grows again the next spring.  It is often flowering and producing seed even in the winter.  The seed pods can be seen developing in a lawn because of the maturing seed pods that often develop between mowings.

Dandelions are Broadleaved Lawn Weeds

Probably one of the most common broad leafed weeds we are asked to control is dandelion in lawns. They bloom in late March through April.  That is when we get the most calls.  It is probably better to do the control after the weather has warmed up a bit.   Then much less chemical is necessary to do the control.  Sometimes the herbicide can be included with fertilizers. Treatment should happen several days prior to mowing.  The material should be given time to react.  If you would like the dandelions eliminated from your lawn, give us a call at 457-4341 or 1-800-828-5508.
