Tent Caterpillars

Tent caterpillars hatch when leaves become available.

Tent Caterpillars

Tent caterpillars tend to become a problem as soon as the leaves come out in the late winter or early spring.  Dormant spraying will wipe out the possibility of these creatures of even showing up on your trees.  You wonder if it did any good. The spray oil will tend to cover their spiracles through which they breathe. This sufficates the worm causing it to die.  The lime sulfur in the spray burns the spores that would make the black spots on the fruit.
