Poa anua

This is annual blue grass.  It only lasts one year.  It is so prolific that it is often the only grass in some lawns.  When it gets hot it dies but grows again the next spring.  It is often flowering and producing seed even in the winter.  The seed pods can be seen developing in a lawn because of the maturing seed pods that often develop between mowings.
