Icynene is an air barrier. That means that water that is disolved in the air cannot get into the insulation or the wall void. The water cannot reach the dew point where it would turn into liquid water. The liquid water could raise the moisture content of the wood until fungus rot could survive. Water that is disolved in the air (as a vapor) can move through fiberglas, celulose or any other fiber insulation and cause problems with fungus rot. Deer Mice Can Carry Hanta Virus
The White Footed Deer Mouse can carry the Hanta virus.The Hanta virus is a real problem. If you get it you are probably going to die. This is particularly a problem when it is dry as particals can be stirred up and you can inhale the virus. Filters that cover your nose and mouth would be appropriate to keep you from breathing the dust. Installation of the HWC can often be done by Olympic Spray Service.
