Our Skunk logo was designed by an illustrator at the Peninsula Daily News. This was back in 1977 when I was looking for a logo. I had just dormant sprayed a friends orchard and he was not home. The orchard was in a little “hollow” where the smell would pocket. When I saw him the next time he said, “You should have a skunk for a logo because it smelled so bad.” I immediatly went to my kids books and found a picture of Flower the Skunk and Pepe LaPew. I took them down to the advertising department of the Daily News, rested my arms on the counter, posed and told the ilustrator what I wanted. He gave me a sample and I carried it around in my pocket for a while and I would pull it out and ask people what they thought. Nearly everyone said it was cute and that they were not offended by it. I then went back in and gave him the go ahead to use it in our advertising. We have used it every since. Thirty-two years. Wow. I am getting old.
